Greenfoot Africa was founded to accelerate the adoption of clean technologies to power goods transport in Africa’s urban and rural centers. Our core focus is developing, distributing, and servicing electric cargo bikes for last-mile logistics.
Launched in January of 2021, our company started by offering pickup and delivery service to businesses in Arusha, Tanzania using a small fleet of electric cargo scooters imported from China.
Challenges and opportunities faced over the next 18 month including limited access to e-bikes and operating tools to scale our operations led us to pivot and set our focus in developing the infrastructures and operating tools needed for an efficient and cost-effective transport of goods in urban areas.
Throughout 2021 in partnership with Access to Energy Institute (A2EI) we conducted an extensive market study on the adoption of electric mobility in Tanzania for productive use cases and market potentials compared to petrol-powered alternatives. Which had great impact to the industry and to our company in deciding which strategy to adopt.
