Electric cargo delivery, built for African businesses

ZELO

ZELO is the platform Greenfoot Africa is developing to move goods cleanly and affordably in African cities. It brings together a vehicle, an energy system, software and trained people, run as one delivery service. Businesses book a delivery when they need one; we handle the rest.

The platform

Four parts, one service. Each built for how goods really move in our cities.

The ZELO eTrike

Three to four times a motorbike capacity.

A purpose-built electric cargo tricycle with a secure, enclosed 1.4 m³ carrier box. Three wheels and a low centre of gravity keep it stable with heavy or fragile loads. Its locally fabricated frame is built for sustained use and repairability: a damaged frame is swapped and refurbished in our Arusha workshop instead of waiting for imported parts.

ZELO eHubs

Solar charging and battery swaps.

Each hub has a 12 kW solar array and 24 charging slots. Every eTrike runs on two swappable 72 V lithium iron phosphate packs, about 50 km each at full load and about 100 km a day with one swap. A rider swaps a low battery for a charged one in under two minutes, so an eTrike never parks for hours to charge.

ZELO Connect

The software that runs the service.

Booking and live tracking for customers; jobs, routes and swap requests for riders; dispatch, fleet monitoring and IoT battery data for our team. Every delivery records its distance and the CO2 it avoided, ready for customers’ own reporting.

ZELO riders

Trained people at every delivery.

Riders are trained in safe riding, careful handling of goods and the ZELO Connect rider app, and ride a stable three-wheeler with safety gear, so a business never has to hire or manage drivers.

Delivery as a service

We sell deliveries, not vehicles. Customers never carry the cost or risk of a vehicle.

Businesses can pay per delivery, or hire a Dedicated eTrike with its rider for regular routes. We own, run and maintain the fleet.
Prices and booking are on the ZELO customer site.

Designed and built in Tanzania for the African last mile. Together with our network of local manufacturing partners and suppliers.
